So my friend Tressa told me of a story that happened to her Wednesday and I thought that I should pass it along to you…
She was sitting in her honors class at CSU, which is 2.5 hours long by the way, and she was reading an article for the class. When the teacher started to ask the class about the article, Tressa raised her hand and said something about how young the lady in the article was, her age being 31… The teacher looked at her and said “This article was written in 1982 Tressa, and she is now dead.” I guess the teacher gave Tressa a death glare and acted like she was thoroughly insulted. Tressa said she looked around the room feeling like an idiot as everyone snickered to themselves.
So much for honors students always being smart. Looks like at the end of the day, everyone can have stupid moments in life.
Cheers,
Devin
So, before I tell this little story… I should probably let you in on my luck with computers.
The first laptop I ever had was in high school, and it was a Dell. I was huge into downloading music (and let’s just say it wasn’t using iTunes). I ended up getting a virus… and I had to send it to my dad’s computer geeks. They fixed my computer and gave it back and said I shouldn’t be using the program I was using anymore to get music… So I decided to try a new program… Turns out it also has viruses… And that led to the second sweep of the hard drive.
For my high school graduation my parents bought me a new laptop, the HP Touchsmart. This laptop was really good and I swore never to go back to Dell (which I have lived up to). That laptop lasted me till my sophomore year of college during winter break. It turns out that since I ran so many programs at once on my computer, the motherboard overheated and destroyed all the components. So for Christmas that year my parents helped me buy a new laptop, HP Pavilion.
This summer I was working at Youthworks, a mission organization, when my laptop (that I had bought 7 months before) was stolen from the church I was staying in. So when I went back to New York, my parents, once again, helped me buy a new laptop, another HP Pavilion.
I have gone through 3 laptops in about 2 and a half years… a little ridiculous if you ask me… So now that you know a little background of my luck with computers, let’s move on to the story from today.
I went into my room a little earlier to get my laptop, and as I was walking out of my room, it started slipping out of my hands. I juggled it for a second before it went crashing to the ground. I had been carrying it with both hands so I really have no idea how it slipped; but it did, and it took a beating. It cracked the outside cover and bent one of the corners. Thank God that it still works… I’ve only had it for a month. I think my mom would have killed me if it had broken.
Maybe I should go with a desktop next time so I can’t move it; or I need an indestructible case.
Cheers,
Devin
Already got another stupid thing I did today… This could be a long day… So I was at school trying to print a lab report for my civil engineering class. After 5 tries of printing front and back (which never worked, it just kept printing the first page one sided and the rest back to back), I finally just printed out the whole lab one sided. I put the rubric on the back and headed to the shredder with the extra (mess up) copies. Little did I know, I had accidentally grabbed the wrong labs to shred. So, I ended up shredding my correct lab with rubric instead of the mess up copies. By the time I realized this, all the computers were taken… Thank God that there was a nice fellow student who let me use his computer to print. I made sure I grabbed the messed up copies to throw away- not shred this time. So, I guess this title should be… Computer/Shredder-2 Devin-0

I never really thought that I’d be someone to have a blog, and I’m sure that no one will really be following this blog, but what the hell, I thought I’d give it a shot. I’ve had this blog for awhile and just havn’t figured out what I really want to blog about… But now I think I finally came up with it. Every day I have things happen to me or around me that make me laugh at either myself or them. So I thought to myself, “Well since I can’t have a camera following me around, I’ll just post the stupid things that happen to other people and myself.”
So here we go… Right after my first class today, Eric said something about preaching to the choir. Trying to be a smart ass, I tried to say, “Man, last time I heard that, I laughed so hard I fell off my dinosaur.” It came out as, “Man, last time I heard that… Mumble mumble mumble… dinosaur.” And I didn’t just say dinosaur, I yelled it. I couldn’t help but laugh at how much I looked like an idiot. Now I know that that little story probably wasn’t that funny for you, but hopefully they get better over time. So if you are reading this, don’t give up on me yet.
Cheers,
Devin
